A Name from the Earth

Discovered in 1906 in northern Sweden, near the Muonio River, this meteorite was given the name Muonionalusta. Like many others, it is designated by the place of its discovery rather than by its cosmic origin. Come from space, it thus enters human history through a landscape, a river and a name inscribed on the maps.
